Transmission Grinds When Slowing Down??
Problem Im having is when I accelerate in any gear the car makes no grinding or scraping noise.... but if i keep it in gear and let off gas to slow down it makes a grinding/scraping noise
Happens loudest in 1st.....2nd is quieter.... and third isnt noticable unless you listen for it Whats dumb is if your in fourth or fifth it doesnt do it at all.... it only doenst while slowing down in gear.... not while accelerating Dropped clutch several times and it has wonderful hold and everything.... shifts wonderfully.... every gear is smooth.... reverse works great and everything so im completely lost here.... wondering if i should go and buy a new trans? clutch?

When is the last time you changed your tranny oil? My rule of thumb is to change the tranny & diff oil every other oil change. Also, you may consider a heavier grade oil, or maybe consider the OEM recommended grade if you are not sure what kind is currently in there. BTW- Synthetic synthetic synthetic...
The reason you will hear the sound when decelrating in the bottom two gears is that 1st & 2nd gear are lower than 3rd & above, and under much more of a load, which is why when engine braking, the car will slow down dramatically faster when shifting down from 3rd or above to 2nd or below. Basically, the tranny's function is to work FOR the engine... Under decel, it's working against it... Which in some ways is harder on it. Depending on whether the grind is a grind or a whine, you MAY be losing 1st & 2nd gears, but I'll bet it's something simple. I highly doubt your tranny is about to let go if everything feels smooth when shifting etc. Reverse is pretty stout- does it do it when decelerating there too?

No doesnt do it in reverse.... but yeah changed the oil yesterday in the tranny.... 75w-90 gear oil... took 3 hours to gravity feed that crap in.... when i drained it was pure black.... still did it as soon as i drove off... drove it this morning and still going.... so going to change out rear end i think tomorrow morning

Not sure whether you have a 13 or a 14... In perspective, your car is old, and so is your transmission... Trannys will get a little whiny over time, it's just the nature of the beast, and why there are transmission shops in most towns & cities.
I get a grind in my diff when rolling backwards in my 240 for some reason... Not the diff that is staying with the car... But said to illustrate the point that things wear out over time and the best you can do is take the best care you can of them... ESPECIALLY if you like to drive hard.

Changed the fluid in the rear end today.... black as shit.... checked the fluid in the trans and its still good.... while i was working on the car i jacked up the rear end and put the car into gear and jumped under to check for the noise.... the sound is coming from the front of the transmission where it mounts up to motor....
Whats the odds of the clutch just going out.... like i said it only makes the noise in 1st,2nd,and 3rd

Could be your pilot bushing, HORRIBLE noises happen when they go bad... If you are going to take out the tranny, it would be damn near criminal to not change the clutch, tob & pilot bushing, as well as resurface the flywheel & get a NISMO pivot ball...
